Shopping means different things to different people. The average middle class man with a limited income thinks of shopping only as something which he has to do for getting essential items like food articles, vegetables, milk etc. But, there is another set for whom shopping is a pleasurable outing. Their purses will be bursting with currency notes and they look for the best ways to spend them and shopping comes first in the list.In the craze for shopping for pleasure has come about in the last 20 or 25 years. The advent of mall culture is entirely responsible for such a situation. When the moneyed lot goes abroad ostensibly to visit famous places and also learn about the culture and living modes of those country, it does not happen that way. When these people come back home and you ask them what they did in foreign lands, the reply comes fast and it is always the same, which is “shopping”.One cannot blame the mall owners as solely responsible for this set of affairs. They are businessmen and it is only natural that they create environment for attracting people with money to spend. The outcome of this frenzied shopping is that most of the items that are purchased are never used.
